Boorooma is governed locally by the Wagga Wagga City Council. This council has a strict policy on the placement of skip bins. Essentially, you will need to ensure your skip bin can fit entirely within the boundaries of your own private property. In this way you avoid the need for seeking any kind of council approval for the activity.
In the case that there is no possible way to achieve the recommended placement, it is extremely unlikely you will get permission to place a skip bin on the nature strip. You can try, but don’t get your hopes up. Until the council changes its policy on skip bins (i.e. a member of a councillor’s family or a close friend needs to put a skip bin on their nature strip) there is not much chance of anyone getting approval for it.
Skip bins can not be placed on public roads in Boorooma at all. There are no exceptions provided for in the council’s published policies in 2019, and that means you simply can’t get a permit for that under any circumstances.
Because of the strict rules in the Wagga Wagga area, residents of Boorooma wanting to use a skip bin need to be certain that it will fit on their property. This means you should make sure there is plenty of space cleared for the bin to be placed.
Sometimes people make the mistake of piling up all the things they want to throw away, and place these piles of objects in the path of where the bin needs to be installed. That will cause a lot of problems, so avoid making that mistake.
Keep in mind that as far as the council is concerned, the driveway leading to the entrance of your yard does not belong to you. That means the skip bin can’t be placed in any way that it protrudes beyond the fence line.
It’s important to be aware of what items aren’t allowed (by law) to be placed in skip bins for disposal. These include:
Please avoid throwing these items out in your skip bin because they can be harmful in many ways. Jim’s can help, either by removing the items separately, or by referring you to relevant services for the disposal or restricted items. Call us on 131-546 for any advice you need.
