The Best skip bin hire service in Maryborough is with Jim’s

There is no more trusted or well-known name in the home maintenances services sector than Jim’s. For nearly 40 years we have been helping people all over Australia to take care of their maintenance needs, with everything from lawn mowing to window cleaning. We’re one of the largest franchise networks, and certainly one of the most successful.

We have achieved this status because we focus on providing an excellent standard of service. We also ensure our customers receive genuine value and good deals.

You don’t have to be based in Maryborough to experience this quality service. Thanks to our skip bins suppliers in Rockhampton, Bundaberg, and further afield, we service the whole state!. For more information or to reserve your bin, call us on 131-546.

Is a permit needed for skip bins in Maryborough?

Maryborough is governed locally by the Fraser Coast Regional Council. This council has yet to publish a clear policy on permit requirements and fees for placing a skip bin on public land. Even if you’re not violating any local laws, the police may still order you to remove a skip bin if, in their opinion, its location contravenes any state laws regarding road safety, or if they believe it creates an obstruction.

To avoid any uncertainty, it is best to locate the skip bin entirely on your own privately held land. This is always the best option because then you don’t have any hassles about needing to get permits or worrying that you may get into trouble.

How to use a skip bin

The most important thing when you use a skip bin is to ensure you’re not putting things in it that could get you in trouble with the law. While some of the things you’re not supposed to dispose of in a bin are really obvious (petrol, dynamite, medical waste), some things are much less obvious.

Some of the items that can cause serious problems for you if you throw them in a skip bin can include:

  • Not just big batteries like car batteries, but any kind of batteries at all. They contain toxins and sometimes corrosives. The environmental damage caused by batteries that have ended up in landfill has been serious enough for them to come under notice of the EPA, and they are authorised to issue fines up to $1 million for violations of this law, and it’s also possible to be imprisoned for a serious wilful violation.
  • Toxic metals such as lead, cadmium and zinc. These metals can cause environmental damage and may cause damage to health of people in the community, and can cause severe harm to aquatic ecosystems and agricultural crops. In addition to possible problems with law enforcement, you may also be liable for damages for business losses and/or health problems caused by reckless disposal of toxic metals.
  • This product contains gypsum, which can cause biodegradable waste it comes into contact with to emit hydrogen sulphide gas, a deadly toxin with a very unpleasant smell. It’s banned from landfill in most areas of Australia for that reason.
  • Fluorescent tubes. You can only legally dispose of these by carefully taking them to an authorised collection point for recycling. They contain toxic mercury vapour in a sufficient enough quantity to cause permanent harm to anyone who inhales it.

Hopefully it should be easy to understand the other items that you should not throw out in any kind of bin, but if you have any doubts at all, don’t hesitate to contact us on 131-546 for advice on skip bin hire in Maryborough.
